If you are a first time installer please make sure your computer does not have any anti-virus software on it. If you have Sophos anti-virus version 4 or below, you will need to uninstall it first. To uninstall please use the following instructions. ( How to uninstall Sophos Anti-Virus (Windows XP | Windows 98). Once your computer is free of any Anti-Virus software or has Sophos version 5 or higher, you can use the following link to install the latest version of Sophos Anti-Virus. Please note that if you are off campus, you must establish a VPN connection to Brooklyn College before Sophos can be downloaded.
SOPHOS is the college's enterprise-wide virus protection solution. It protects every tier of the Brooklyn College IT infrastructure, including desktops and servers. The SOPHOS virus engine is updated automatically throughout the week to deal with new virus threats and these updates are then propagated to the many desktop and server systems on campus. Since your workstation virus definitions are updated when you start up your computer, be sure to shut down and restart your systems regularly and to make sure that SOPHOS is loaded on your system.
Please note that licensing rules require that you access the download page from on campus. If you are off campus, you must access the page via a VPN.
Once Sophos file is downloaded you have to manually configure Auto - updating for Sophos.
As username and password you should use your BC email credentials.
