In recent years, I.T.S.
has continued the implementation and expansion of the goals
of the college’s electronic campus plan. As mainframe and legacy
applications were migrated to network based systems, I.T.S.
has redirected resources to leading edge network and web based
infrastructure and applications. I.T.S. is proud to be a leader
within CUNY in all areas of network, web, and client server
applications. Many of our systems have been officially adopted
by CUNY for CUNY wide dissemination. Furthermore, many of BC’s
major technology initiatives have since been adopted by other
CUNY colleges – Imaging, Kiosks, IVR etc..
I.T.S. provides "dial tone"
for most of the college’s IT infrastructure and does so with
a high degree of reliability and availability. I.T.S. also
partners with AIT in the Library to introduce technology to
the faculty and the support the college’s instructional mission.
But aside from maintaining existing systems, supporting users,
and performing recurring production tasks, I.T.S. has consistently
been an innovator in the use of technology to reduce costs,
make better use of scarce resources, increase reliability
and data integrity, and make useful tools available to students,
faculty, and staff.
The following is an overview of recent
IT achievements in several major categories - many projects
overlap multiple categories. Of course, I.T.S. rarely accomplishes
any project alone. In every case, I.T.S. worked closely with
users and with other IT resources both on campus and at CUNY
to bring these accomplishments to fruition.
