Campus wide inventory and Y2K upgrades During this last year of the "millennium" I.T.S. visited, inventoried, updated, and repaired thousands of the colleges PC to ensure Y2K compliance where feasible.
Desktop upgrades
I.T.S. regularly visits most of the colleges PCs and MACs
and continually upgrades various aspects of the computers operating environment
to:
Upgrade desktop systems to the Windows 9.x standard.
Annual distribution and installation of 150-200 new PCs I.T.S. completed I.T.S. annual PC distributions in record time and with the best user satisfaction. I.T.S. also continues to recycle older recent vintage and even much older PCs to users with appropriate needs.
Customer Service I.T.S. has greatly improved access to the Help Desk and is endeavoring to promote the highest levels of customer service. Some changes include:
Desktop Support The I.T.S. Help Desk made almost 5,000 visits for desktop support and PC installations. This figure is not inclusive of the thousands of visits made as part of the Y2K and software upgrade projects described above.
Inventory parts,
supplies, campus PCs
I.T.S. also created new SQL supplies and parts inventory systems to help manage
the internal needs of the I.T.S. Technical Support and Operations groups. Stockroom
management and improved tracking has made the parts storage and ordering more
efficient.
