LABS
I.T.S. continues to operate most of the labs and computer classrooms on campus, including the premier Atrium and Wolfe facilities which are open 15 hours a day and weekends with over 400 PCs, MACs, and SUNs.
Computer upgrades and centralized printing
This year, many PCs were replaced with upgraded models. New high-speed centralized laser printers were installed to save operating costs and make printout distribution more accurate and efficient.
Disability Support
I.T.S. continues to act as the primary provider of support and access to computer
resources for users with disabilities. Our Disability Support Specialist not
only maintains our own extensive array of specialized systems, but also assists
the Library, the Goldstein Center, and any other such needs.
Video Conferencing
I.T.S. continues to facilitate numerous seminars and videoconferencing events
in our state-of-the-art videoconferencing multimedia classroom. This year, an
upgraded system was installed and many changes were made to the facility to
enhance the teaching environment such as: new entrances, new lighting, extra
phone and fax lines, and additional feedback monitors for the presenter.
Lab Reservation System
Final work is now being done on a new computerized reservation system which
will allow for centralized control, tracking, and logging of usage at all of
the colleges major open access labs, including the Library Café.
The interface will allow for bar code scanning of student ID cards to speed
entry and seat assignment. The system will also include many new features such
as student alerts, automatic time monitoring, logging of all accesses for statistical
review. The system will store data for all campus labs in a centralized SQL
database.
